Today, many successful people are more afraid of the naysayers who may say that they are not good enough than they are of the competition. For example, if you are a salesman who is almost certain to win at the next sales convention, you will spend even more time preparing than you would need to if your competition was nonexistent. On the other hand, you can spend all the time in the world preparing for an event where there is no competition. If you spend all your money on advertising and then find out that no one comes to your event, you will regret spending all that money.

However, if you sell yourself as the best and most positive person in the world, you do not need to spend any money on advertising. When someone says that he is better than anyone else, he is speaking about himself and his negative feelings about himself.
